Everyone Can Do Abit For Environment The Environment is by far one of the issues most of us take for granted. It's somwhat invisible, intangible and the vastness of it somehow puts people off as to where to start or how their little efforts can do any good. What most of us forget that by being Green/environmentally aware ourselves is only the beginning; we often overlook the need to influence and affect people around us to be aware and lead environmentally mindful lifestyles. We are not asking everyone to go around hugging trees or orgainsing a protest against hunting endangered species, the list below is a good start which we think everyone can do...

15 Things You Can Do To Save the Environment
Reduce your driving (walk, bike, ride, take public transport, carpool).

Choose a more fuel efficient car.

Don't leave your TV, computers, DVD/VCD players on standby; it uses more electricity than the little red LED light!

Choose more energy-efficient appliances, especially major ones like refrigerators, aircons and water heaters.

Recycle everything you can: newspapers, cans, glass bottles and jars, aluminum foil, motor oil, scrap metal, etc.

Don't use electrical appliances for things you can easily do by hand, such as opening cans.

Plug off your Handphone charger when charging is completed.

Re-use bread bags and the bags you bring your produce home in.

Store food in re-usable containers, instead of plastic wrap or aluminum foil.

Take unwanted, re-usable items to a charitable organization or thrift shop.

Don't leave water running needlessly.

Save some of your washing machine water.

Gargle your mouth with a cup of water instead.

Set your aircon temperature to 24-26C instead of below 23C.

Turn off the lights, TV, or other electrical appliances when you are out of a room.
Fill a 1.5/2L drink plastic bottle and leave it inside the WC; this will save you that same amount every time you flush the toilet.

Do not use the water heater on a hot afternoon! Use cold water in the washer whenever possible.

Print or copy on both sides of the paper.

Went there on the 8 Dec 2008 with my family.
Not too bad, got free pots, a small packet of media and some basal seeds.
Here is the photo:

Last night after dinner this is what I saw:

Can you guess where are the lightings? It is in the west part of Singapore.

Also last night the moon was so round that I can't help taking a photo of it.

Now I know what my plant name exactly liao..the BIG one is known as N. ventricosa... think I shall name it Ventri

Also learnt last night that it needs strong light, but no no to strong sun, good drainage and no fertilizer required.

Now need to search for a good place to groom it :)

Hey, this is what I asked my hubby to get for me for this season.

Medium size pitcher flower about 8cm long.

This one have mini pitcher. Wonder when it will bloom.

Cute right? Hoping these pitcher plants will helps me to eat those insects. :P So that no more insects will attack my plants.

More Info about Pitcher Plants:

The Nepenthes plant, commonly known as the tropical pitcher plant also captures its prey by means of the pitfall method. Nepenthes are strikingly different in appearance than the other passive varieties of Carnivorous Plants. Pitchers are located growing from the ends of some leaves by what could appear to be an umbilical cord, called a tendril. Nepenthes pitchers also contain water and digestive enzymes like the Sarracenia and Darlingtonia. The prey is attracted to the pitcher in much the same manner, by color and odor. Downward pointing hairs inside the pitcher also make it very difficult for the visitor to escape. Some species of Nepenthes can grow pitchers large enough to capture small animals such as frogs, etc. For instance, the pitcher of the N. rajah can grow to be as large as a rugby football!

Christmas is here again...so time to deco my christmas tree
This year is a special one as Joel helped me out 1 month back to deco the tree.
Maybe you can find some of his "naughty" creation on my christmas tree.
Also if you are keen, maybe you can try to spot your presents placed under the tree.

Oops...did take one with the lighting.

Also here is the christmas tree taken at Taka 3 weeks back.

Oh yes, on Saturday we went to the ZOO. As usual didn't stay long enough to make our parking worth :P Was there for about 2 hours only. But I managed to see some animals which in the few past visit i do not see...like the Sunny Bear. We happened to be there on time to see it feeding. It seems that the bear can't really see well as it was sniffing for it's food. Also we were lucky to be able to visit the Animal Hospital in the zoo...was some of the aborted animals foetus..a bit gross.

My stomach was so full with food last evening. My son ordered steamboat for dinner and my in-laws really go all out to prepared it. Think they had prepared a fest for 8-9. After that watched the "Star Award", a lousy show i should say. :P

Had the opportunity to go to Batam via my company Annual Function.
Batam is like Singapore in the 60s and 70s.... alots of kampong.
Shopping is indeed rather cheap there, but nothing much to do except sea sports and massage. 1st time having a full body massage and i paid S$36 for 1 hour. Quite cheap huh?

Here are some of the shots taken.

Enjoy

Tuesday, November 27, 2007

Today tigerairways having their promotion from $2.99.
So after getting the news and contacting my brother, we decided to go Phuket.
Hence with 1 hour, i booked the tickets to go Phuket cost slightly less than $800 for 6 persons.

However, when I reach home, mum called and said my brother receive the letter go go in-camp training...ended up we need to change date... to Apr and pay a processing fee of $180 for the change of flight.

All in all think it is still cheap compare to normal time.

While seated, interlace your fingers and place your hands on the back of your head. Allow your head and arms to relax forward and your chin to travel toward your chest. The weight of your head and arms, combined with gravity, will begin to release your neck and reduce or eliminate your headache.

Remember that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

Here is it:

Also bring my son to visit the Tamil temple there. Then also give a try to the ShangHai Guo Tei there at SimLim Foodcourt which i read on the net is good.

Wednesday, October 24, 2007

Aiyo, 1st thing in the morning one start to pack and unpack my stuffs in the office. Shifted within the building just different department. Right now sitting in the mist of lotsa of engineers.

Seeing my neighbour beside me, I am 1/2 hearted liao.. think now I shall immerse myself more in music when i work. :P

I also begin to wonder and worry if she might one day turn crazy and attack me or not afterall we are now back to back without any barriers in between. Now I begin to miss my OLD time neighbours like SohSum, Joyce, Tong Luan. Come to think of it not too bad..so far all my neighours are gals.

Saturday, October 20, 2007

This morning we are crazy to prepare quite a lot of stuffs..cooked Nasi Lemak with chicken wings for lunch, Kaya for the bread and as well as making Soya milk after lunch time.

Wah..after 1 day of hard play finally my gaming character level up to 2nd job.
This time round i choose to be a spearman or rather should be a spear woman.
I find that my character very pathetic always hide behind the iron helmet like no face to see the world. Other player at times would even ask if my character is a GAL. Sob sob...wearing PINK colour shoes already still cannot tell. Really sad.

See they are so creative. We tried to get married in the game however needs to fulfill lotsa of conditions. Ended up - FORGET IT! Getting a propose ring in the game world is hard which money cannot buy!

I am toying with the ideal to get the game cash card to purchase some items which will only last for 90 days. Wonder should I or should I not...sigh... thought it was to attract young kids, "old" people like me if got and buy like abit childish isn't it so?

Sigh, my Mr Slowman have been taking his sweet time do process the car insurance and the inspection. Finally I got them done today. He got no choice but FORCED by me since I am on leave to drive the car to inspection. However, I had forgot to bring along my road tax renewal letter so we decided go to LTA to do it after our lunch.

Finally found the GuoTei that my collegue recommended in AMK.
The stall name is DongBei in AMK Ave6 near the market (blk 628) which got burn few days back.

After lunch went to LTA, however HEAVY DOWNPOUR...raining like cats and dogs. Changed of plan and decided to send the car for maintenace and guess what it can only be collected at the end of the day. Since we had no intention of waiting, we went back home to rest instead after going to a few places within the 1/2 day!

But I managed to buy 2 pairs of shoes this time round in the morn while I was in AMK central. Efficient right? :P

Guess the one achievement on my leave day was inspection of the car, walked AMK central abit, my shoes, 20 oranges in the fridge and chance to eat the GuoTei!

Tuesday, October 16, 2007

Managed to squeeze some time to bring my son to my collegues' chalet @ NSRCC there. We are there mainly for the dip and for him to have fun at the water play.
The changing rooms there I find it quite nice. :P

Today i finally decide to subscribe to the magazine for a year and add $30 to get a OTO Moni Masaje. Initially I thought I would get a Tataki, it seems not so. Anyway, I am happy with this toy as it does kneading with the help of the rollers rather than tataki which just tap via the 4 drums. Quite surprise is that this OTO Momi-Masaje does not seems to be available in the OTO store in singapore only available in HongKong as I checked their website. Now I can have some back massage DIY at home!

Features
- Finger-press backrest
- 4 massage rollers enable pleasant massage experiences on neck, back, calves, soles and waist.
- Anti-clockwise and Clockwise actions for comfortable feelings.
- Applicable to cars.
- 2 levels of speed.

Last thur my collegue brought me to this Queensway there to eat the Guo Tei...I liked the fried version. So today we decided to go there again and on the way there (almost reaching) then we realise that it was closed today! So MONDAY do not look for food that consist meat!

Ended up we lunched at the Alexandra Village for our lunch. After lunch we went off to pack our tea-time. For the 1st time I saw so many colourful 红龟粿. Now me looking for recipe to made the green bean paste or peanuts fillings. I have the premix of the skin at home.

Urgh... Our weather have been very bad the last few days! It was the worst on SAT that I even had to on aircon throughout the day. It was so hot that we could hardly sleep without air-conditioning. Now I begin to wonder what's life was long time back when I was young and my family totally have no aircon at all. It was only in my early twenties that my family have air-conditioning when we shifted to our current place and we could then afford one. Hmmm... guess having a FAN under this HOT weather not going to help. Maybe that's the reason why so many peoples loves to hang out around shopping mall on weekends. Guess I am going to see a BIG jump in my utilities bills this month. But at least I know my air-con units are all functional.

While the inhale is stimulating, the exhale is relaxing. While the inhale is about bringing energy into the body, the exhale is about releasing stress, toxins, and pain.

Because of this, you can use conscious breathing as a break in your day. By focusing on your exhale, you can let go of the past and come into the present with a renewed commitment. Here's how:

Sit up in your chair with your feet on the floor and a long spine. Close your eyes and focus on your breath. Inhale through the nose, feeling your spine get longer and taller. Then exhale through your mouth with a deep sigh. As you exhale, visualize the moments of your day moving away from you.

Try this for a few minutes anytime you need to let go of something. It can have a profound effect on your emotional and physical health.

See my plant flowering!

Saturday, October 6, 2007

It has been a long time since I last played the game. Tonight started again as my son have been playing. Guess what my level is so much lower than his. Better buck up!
Aiming to get to level 30! Still have 4 levels more.

A lunch meeting is a form of multi-tasking which allows busy executives to fill their tummies and talk shop at the same time. Whether you're the host of an invited guest, you should be aware of some things if you want to make the meal a success.

***Be nice to all ***
Being impolite to wait staff is the biggest mistake you can male. Don't act like a spoilt child or as if you own the restaurant. How you treat the service staff reflects on your general attitude towards co-workers and business associates.

***Order with care ****
Crabs are a bad idea, and so are potential messy foods like spaghetti. Laksa and curry are also best avoided if you're wearing white. You want to leave a good impression, which is usually hard if you have gravy stains on your clothes

***Give your undivided attention ***
Turn your mobile phone off or put it on silent mode. It's a form of courtesy to your lunch companions. If there's an urgent call you have to answer, excuse yourself and take the call outside.

***Arrive on time ***
Punctuality is appreciated. If you are the host, plan to arrive early so you can be at the table to greet your guest. If you are held up unexpectedly, ask your lunch partner if he or she would mind waiting for you, or if it would be better to postpone the lunch to a later date.

***Choose the right restaurant ***
If you are the host, pick a place that you are familiar with and that you know provides good food and service. Places that are too crowed are not conducive to business talk. Also ask your guest if her has any food preferences or restrictions.

***Confirm the appointment ***
As the host, call or e-mail in the morning to reconfirm the appointments; as a guest, remember that a lunch meeting is not the occasion for an intern to get a free lunch, unless he is specifically invited to be involved in the discussion.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Note: My personally theory on lunch time is to have a break from the stressful work. Hence talking about work related issue is a NO-NO, which i would avoid.

Since school was closed for children's day, we brought Joel to Genting.
As usual, my favourite "Tiger machine" ate some $$$. See I am boasting their economy again.

I am thinking in a few years time when Singapore CASINO open would they still have business or not. It seems that each day, there are alots of Singaporeans travelling there boosting their economy. Guess by then those SIN-GEN coaches would likewise to affected, espeacially with the 7 hours ride there.

One thing I dislike about the place there is that was the "heavily polluted" air. It was nice viewing the clouds flying pass by when a COOL breeze, but the people there just simply LOVES to pollute air. It was bad especially in the CASINO as there is no at all any inlet and outlet of the air circulation! This this would never an issue in our singapore casino. For that, I would give my government credit for enforcement on this law and signs "No SMOKING" around the city.

On children's day it actually drizzle in GENTING. It visibility was less than 20 m when i was walking outdoor in the theme park. Freezing COLD indeed, but quite an experience like walking in the clouds. Managed to take a few rides this time round of course children is usually the one who loves it the best of all.

On Sun, while on our way to holiday, we received a call from my brother informing that one of my aunt had passed away. I last saw her in NOV and she seems so prefectly healthly, but who knows she was striked with cancer in Feb I was told. Few weeks back, her daughter-in-law then called and informed my parents about my aunt situation. It was shocking to me and unbelievable that the other 5 aunties didn't bothered to inform us! Anyway, my dad visited her 2 weeks back. She was one of the aunties that I loved and respected her alot as compared to the rest. She was strong at her last few weeks of her jounery in this world.

May she rest in peace.

Life is so unpredictable, hence please take some time off to tell the one that you love him/her and spend some moments together.

For the day:
At work, the dynamic and enthusiastic Tiger may struggle under the yoke of constraints placed on him by the slow moving Ox. Any rash financial decisions made today could cost you money. At home, family differences may end in a quarrel with both sides becoming inflexible. Try to stay calm.
--------------------

Luckily today no need to report for work hence not an issue. Wonder who belongs to the OX group..I must avoid! Ok, so today dun think of buying anything so won't spend monkey and i won't regret later. Also to avoid quarrel i think i better go and nap most of the time. :P

Hay, a napping day!

Thursday, September 27, 2007

I am now aiming to have a better and healthier lifestye.
Hence shall be focusing on exercising - not those jogging or running. It's beyond my scope. More of those relax swim, stretches.
I must start today and tried to maintain it.
Health is Wealth!

Do you see a frog?
Different people see different thing.
Some see this:

Moral : We have to respect each other's opinion; you can see it clearly in the above Picture. We just need to wait and listen actively to others' point of view!
